The Framemaker publishing package has very weak built-in
search-replace functionality. You can workaround this limitation by converting
Frame files to text using the Save As Mif command, use
TextPipe to work magic on
the files, and then convert the results back to Frame format using the Open
With... right click command. By doing so you can avoid having to buy expensive packages.
With TextPipe you can -
Search and replace in files of any size
Perform multiple changes all at once
Save replacement sets for future use
Restrict changes to line ranges, column ranges, tab
fields and much more (see white paper here)
Convert between Mainframe EBCDIC and PC/Unix ASCII representations (see white paper
here)
and much more.
This makes TextPipe ideal for tech writers or desktop publishers who work
with Frame.
