Here EP shows you the pattern it has designed, or alternatively, you can tailor what EP has designed or create your own EasyPattern from scratch - see the EasyPattern Primer or EasyPattern Reference for more details.

The top field shows your EasyPattern. When you change this field, the equivalent perl pattern in the field below is automatically updated. By right-clicking on this field, you can insert special EasyPattern characters, escape special characters, or perform clipboard operations. You can copy the EasyPattern to the clipboard and then paste it into an EasyPattern application such as TextPipe Pro.

The perl pattern can also be directly modified, and it has its own right-click menu with special perl pattern text to insert. It can also be copied to the clipboard and pasted into any program that supports perl patterns.

When you've finished designing your pattern, move to the testing tab.
