This filter is identical in function to a pattern search and replace, except that it supports the Brief-editor syntax for specifying patterns:

Brief	TextPipe/perl pattern	Function
?	.	Match any character
@	.*	Match zero or more characters
+	.+	Match one or more characters
<	^	Match the start of line
%	^	Match the start of line
$	$	Match the end of line
>	$	Match the end of line
{	(	Start a group
}	)	End a group
