(Pro version only) Converts from ASCII/OEM to ANSI. ANSI is the character set used by Windows, and it includes all accentuated Roman characters used by non-English languages like French, German and Spanish. ASCII/OEM is an extension of the original IBM character set where various non-essential characters are replaced by language-specific accentuated characters. Different ASCII/OEM character sets are not compatible. They must be converted to ANSI and then back to the correct ASCII/OEM character set to be readable. This filter can be useful if you want to send a text file to someone using a language other than your own. Also known as a DOS to ANSI filter. See also: |
