This filter reformats text that is wider than the specified column width. Use it when text has been formatted without line feeds.

The line feed added by this filter is a DOS CR/LF pair, so if you need a Unix or Mac end of line character you will need to follow it with a Convert End of Lines filter.

If you need to add line feeds to a document with fixed record sizes, use a Convert End of Lines filter.
