file extension/association

I've installed the evaluation copy.
When I compress a file it is saved as a ZIP file. I can open and extract the file.

The problem is that if I try to Open the file with the zip file listing open or saving it to the hard drive and then try to open it I cannot.
The error is that there is no file association with the file. Note: This is a problem only with embedded graphics (jpg/bmp) or picture that are attached to the message.
Excel and PDf work just fine.

I tried to manually give the file an extension (jpg and bmp) but that doesn't work either.
In the profile the extension is show as [extension], however in the documentation it says [ext]. I tried both but it still does not work.

Any suggestions.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

[ext] is the attachment's extension without a period e.g. 'doc'
[extension] is the same

Did you add the period in between?

I did have a . there but if I have an embedded screen shot and try to compress it, the file is impressed and reattached as a zip.
When I unzip the file the extension is gone. Is it possible that since it is embedded in the e-mail message the graphic does not have an extension.

If I try to open the file it tells me there is no application associated with it.

BMP and JPG files do have associations.

Hmm - it is definitely possible. If you could email us the email (by dragging it in as an attachment) we'll be able to look at the image type.
